This shingle beach lies on the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site and is one of Dorset's best fossil hunting locations - with a little patience, plenty of ammonites and other fossils can be found in the shingle at the foot of the cliffs. Activities on and off the beach include wind surfing, shore fishing and swimming, although the steeply shelving nature of this beach means extra care must be taken when bathing. There's no zoning in place for water sports either. The beach is Marine Conservation Society Recommended, lies on the South West Coast Path for walkers and is a good starting point for other hiking trails and cycle routes.
