About Westward Ho! Beach

This Marine Conservation Society Recommended and Blue Flag beach is sandy and long, stretching for around 3.5 km (2 mi) from the town. It is backed by a pebbled ridge which links the beach to Northam Burrows Country Park, giving plenty of opportunity for nature lovers to explore wildlife in rock pools, salt marshes, sand dunes and grasslands. Activities from the beach include wind surfing and surfing - zoning is in place - as well as swimming. Fishing is popular; anglers come for the chance of catching wild sea bass. Lovely coastal walks are available too - the South West Coast Path runs parallel to the beach.
