About East Looe Beach

This gently shelving, sandy beach is ideal for families, providing safe paddling and swimming and allowing for sandcastle building. There is plenty of sand available even at high tide and the beach therefore gets very busy in peak season.

Towards the east, the sand gives way to more rocky terrain, and so this stretch is often quieter – it is also a good area for snorkelling and bass fishing. To the west is the Banjo Pier; its unusual shape was a prototype for others around the world. This both protects fishing boats returning to Looe harbour beyond and allows for walking and fishing.
