About Am Basteir

Am Basteir is located in the northern Cuillin range on the Isle of Skye in Scotland. Its height is 934 m (3,064 feet), making it one of the smallest of the three Munros in the northern Cuillin range. The name ‘Am Basteir’ means ‘The Executioner’ and the route for its ascent can be tricky to find, with an unnerving scramble to reach the peak. The Basteir Tooth, a formidable pinnacle of rock, lies below the summit of the mountain and climbing this is recommended only for experienced mountain climbers.
