Details

This is the perfect way to try out rock climbing, even if you're a complete stranger to crampons. Using a state-of-the-art indoor climbing wall, you'll learn the ropes without any chance of your climb being ruined by downpours or midge attacks. First off you'll be briefed on safety and basic climbing techniques, before you learn the fundamentals of abseiling including how to tie in, belay, and the moves you need to scale the aretes, slabs, overhangs and grooves on your way to the top - all with constant encouragement and supervision from your expert instructors. You're in for a challenging, exciting and fun time - and you'll be amazed at what you can achieve.

Availability

9am to 10pm, seven days a week. Allow at least four weeks advance notice for weekend bookings. Book during off-peak periods (weekdays, excluding bank holidays, from March to July and September to January) and get an extra 20 minutes' climbing free.

Numbers On Day

A 6:1 ratio of clients to instructors gives the best input and most climbing.

Spectators

Spectators are welcome and can watch from a special viewing area. There is a cafe serving hot and cold drinks and a selection of food.

Dress Code

Please wear tight-fitting sportswear if you have it. Hire of all climbing equipment including footwear is included.

Guidelines

Kinlochleven is in the western highlands of Scotland near Ben Nevis and Glencoe, around two hours' drive north of Glasgow. From the A82 take the B863. Once you enter Kinlochleven the venue is well signposted.

Restrictions

Minimum age is seven. Parental consent is required for under 16's. There are no weight or height restrictions. Please be aware that you are required to sign and complete a disclaimer on the day before you can participate in your experience.

At 1,200 square metres, this is the UK's highest articulated rock climbing wall, featuring a variety of angles to suit beginner and intermediate climbers.
