The black bear (Ursus americanus) is native to North America. It is by far the most popular bear species living across the world.
According to Alaska Department of Fish and Game, 100,000 specimens live solely in Alaska. Although considered to be medium-sized in comparison with its brother grizzly, it can reach a weight of 159 kg (350 lb) before going into hibernation.
